This is so beautiful, Sue. Thank you for sharing. I have a deep love of Wolves, as I know many others do. I always hope that they will wander down from Canada into New Hampshire and show up in the woods that surround me. I once came almost face-to-face with a Coywolf while visiting in North Carolina. What a moment that was! 🐺

Thank you, Barbara. I love that you love Wolves and have met one of them too. Wow, a moment never to forget, it must have been amazing! I am so glad you enjoyed my post. A check on Wolf progress and a wonderful book to read.

So amazing that you and I published pieces on wolves on the same day. :-)

In my piece I refer to the villain as a "beast" rather than a wolf, but I still used the word "wolf" in the title and used images of wolves. Hard to do a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood without that, but I hope I'm not adding to the misunderstanding of such a beautiful creature... 😔

Thank you, Mary, that is amazing. And bless you for your concerns. It is easy to forget how deeply we have been programmed to see animals and other creatures as harmful to us when all they want to do is be left alone to live their lives rearing their young in their natural habitats. It's the same with the 'sly Fox' who remain in their territories as we build over them without a second thought, and the notion that Beavers eat fish when they are staunch vegetarians. So many of our words have been hijacked to mean different things and it's a difficult task to weed them out and reinstate their true meanings. I haven't read your post but I am sure it is quite brilliant and that your love for real Wolves shines through despite the association.

Beautifully stated; wolves, ravens, other avians, other mammals all have emotions, feelings as deep as any human.

Thank you, Perry, it is true. Wolves in particular rear their young together, and look after the infirm and elderly as a family. It's so beautiful.
