I knew you knew that but had to make the distinction. Over here Hares are revered as archetypes from Pagan times. They are creatures that live on open ground (rather than hiding in Rabbit holes) thus relying on good eyesight, camouflage, super-sensory instincts and high speed to avoid predators.
they don't have a very relaxed life, do they . . . always on the alert for danger and danger is everywhere . . . people sometimes look at the beings of nature and think to themselves, oh how peaceful! . . . the opposite is the truth in the wilds
All in a day's work for these beautiful creatures. They live for 3-4 years generally speaking. It's Hare Coursing I find particularly troubling and Fox Hunting, chasing animals to death for sport, don't get me started.
Thank you, Lizzie, it wasn't intended at first. It's lovely to bring my collection together on various themes. Sending so much love, I hope all is well with you. 🤗
I share my master bedroom with 2 adorable rabbits 🐰 🐰 and so appreciated this poetic zigzag flow reminding us of their wilder freer sovereign Hare ancestors
You write evocatively and very beautifully! We are leaving the Water Rabbit behind in just a few days to meet the Wood Dragon! I love bunnies, but I am READY for the Wood Dragon! Kaia Ra has a New Year's celebration on the 10th if you're interested :)
Thank you so much Alicia, how lovely for you to say so. We associate Hares with the coming of Spring and I am feeling particularly excited about the reawakening of Nature this year and all the joy this brings. I was not aware of the Water Rabbit or the Wood Dragon which is another signpost I am grateful for. I will take a look!
does anyone not love a bun bun? so quiet and innocuous, cute and swift.
Of course, the Hare is an altogether different creature from the Rabbit, but of course you knew that!
they're all bunnies to me, Sue . . . but yes, i'm aware that hares and rabbits are not the same species

on this we agree . . . hunting is sport killing . . . it has nothing to do with feeding yourself
So delighted this poetical has zigzagged its way here, Sue.
