This is so important. I feel like we need an about-face, with children spending more time outdoors and leaving those damn screens behind. My children didn't have those distractions and spent lots of time outdoors. I am grateful for that. And, while I grew up in a Detroit neighborhood, I made the best of what we had - a city park at the end of our block, lots of trees, and time spent outside all day everyday in the summer. I have so much respect for parents today who are battling the technology addiction and getting outdoors with their children. The photo of the little boy with the magnifying glass is precious! Thanks, Sue!
I so agree, thank you, Barbara. I feel the same and a day doesn't go by when I am not truly blessed to have been brought up so close to Nature up until 8 years old. Any opportunity to spend time with children outside is a wonderful experience when you step into their world. I love the pic too, it is from my website builder collection and says it all! Thank you for sharing your story, I think all children find the patches of Nature like animals find the herbs they need when they feel poorly.
Such is a wonderful and healthy way of living in the world. I feel that I was fortunate as a child, that even though I grew up in a city, I was within walking distance of a large park that was in the centre of the city. I spent a lot of time outdoors and learned a lot. I think most children would rather spend time in Nature than in front of a screen.
I so agree, thank you, Perry,. We can be sure that whatever our experience we never forget our first connections with Nature. I love that Mother Nature cannot be prevented from appearing and growing anywhere so that we can always reach out wherever we are and at any time of day to be with her.
Beautiful. I have so many memories of playing outdoors in the village and woods nearby growing up. Was sad that my children did not have the same experiences but we tried as best we could. Was just visiting my childhood home recently and had to travel those same paths again. Lots of good memories to savour.
Thank you ! And yes, I remember those days so clearly. Building camps, messing about in the river and climbing trees. Oh my word, up to the age of eight, I didn't know how lucky I was to have Nature as my second home. All the more reason for us to bring it back for our children and future generations. Spending time in their world is great fun when you get into it. I love that every experience we have in Nature is an experience we never forget, we just have to remember to remember and let those feelings come back to us - that's when the magic happens.
Thank you, Lizzie, it was a lovely trip down memory lane and any excuse to jump in puddles and scatter the fallen leaves! It will be wonderful to spend time with you out in the wild being kids again and kin as it should be. Sending so much love and I hope you have a beautiful day. 🌿🍀🍃

Love the personal stories here 'Sue-kin' - we can be children when we meet up next month!
