Knowing Nature by Sue Cartwright
A poem about exeriencing Nature through each of our senses
Hi, I’m Sue and I write about the beauty and ingenuity of Nature, and how we can deepen our connection for our optimum health and wellbeing. Discover more Nature-inspired content on Spiral Leaf, Twitter and my video Nature Channel.
I see you ...
Tiny flower, little snail, budding rose, new leaf;
I see your perfect shape, order, form, function and brief;
I see the way you are made, your beauty, colour and hue;
I take a picture in my mind to honour and remember you.
I hear you ...
Singing bird, croaking toad, river flow, fluttering breeze;
I hear the leaves above me rustling in the trees;
I trace your notes of joy, harmonies made to please;
I tune into your harmonic frequencies and feel at ease.
I smell you ...
Scent of Lavender, tree blossoms, resins, oils;
Rain on new grass, salty air, damp earthy soil;
I sense your essence, healing energy, unspoiled;
Breathing in your fragrance is a joy.
I taste you ...
Daisy flower, wild hazelnut, home-made soup and apple cake;
I know your value, natural nutrients made for my sake;
Savouring organic food is so good for our health;
Living close to Nature nurtures every aspect of Self.
I touch you ...
Spongy moss, old stone, tree bark, fine grains of sand;
I feel your texture, softness, roughness, strands;
I sink my feet into your cushions of lucious grass;
Running my hands over a stone wall covered in moss.
I feel you ...
Spider crafting your web, bird building your nest;
Waves ebbing and flowing, feeling alive and refreshed;
I honour your presence, the buzz of life unstressed;
I know I AM part of you, our lives together expressed.
I know you ...
My sense of awe in your presence knows no bounds;
The synchronicities, the like with like, balance, calm;
The way you work in tandem with the moon and stars;
I appreciate your ingenuity, personality and charm.
Thank you for reading and look forward to seeing you again soon.
