Early Spring Walk by Sue Cartwright
Walk with me to enjoy a symphony of Wildflowers, Wild Garlic, Nettles and Ferns as they come into bloom
Hi, I’m Sue and I write about the beauty and ingenuity of Nature, and how we can deepen our connection for our optimum health and wellbeing. Discover more Nature-inspired content on Spiral Leaf, Twitter and my video Nature Channel.
Walking through fields in early May,
With banks of wildflowers brightening the way.
Primroses and Wood Anemones in lemon, pink and white,
Gently unfolding towards the light.
Wild Violets so bright with heart-shaped petals,
Calendine star-bursts amidst the Nettles.
Greater Stitchwort, delicate yet bold,
Guarded by Faeries since days of old.
Into the woods, the path leads the way,
Trees come to life in the warmth, light of day.
Wild Garlic buds bursting into flowers, so white and fresh,
With delicious flavoured leaves of goodness.
Nettles resplendent in finest form,
New leaf tips in tea, cleanse the blood and keep bones strong.
Clusters of Hart's Tongue ferns, tall and strong,
Unfurling their fronds in spiral throngs.
Pausing to listen to the tune of life, the birdsong;
In this world of Nature, I call my home.
Where energy flows and living things thrive,
Where I feel at peace and most alive.
As Nature spills on the path along the way,
In festivals of flower buds and fresh new leaves.
Reaching the top of The Rock on a grassy knoll,
A glorious view, over rolling fields, to Dartmoor and beyond.
A vista of peace, as birds glide through the sky,
And colourful courting butterflies dance by.
I hope you enjoyed walking with me on one of my favourite walks near my home in Devon, England.
If you have a moment, I created a video with the above photographs and words and a beautiful piano solo by Franz Gordon. It has a certain charm which I am sure you will enjoy.
Make the most of these last weeks of Spring as we ease our way into the new Summer season. I look forward to seeing you again soon.
Such a Beautiful Country you live in, I could wander and never get tired of this perfect place.
The greatest strength in seeing light and beauty, is our total surrender to it.
"Not all of those who wander are lost," they are at Home. (A little take from JRR Tolkien)
You captured the dance of light ❤️
